Employers and Vaccinations Update

As an update to our previous blog (CLICK HERE), John Dustow notes:

First case to come up before the Authority regarding mandatory vaccinations in the work place. I'm sure this will be challenged in the Employment Court. But in short, Customs had a legitimate right to terminate their employee's employment after taking careful steps to undergo a full Health and Safety Risk assessment and of course the Government legislation to require frontline workers to be vaccinated

**edit - This decision does not give the green light for employers to start mandating vaccinations. Rather the Authority was pretty clear that a thorough risk assessment needed to be conducted and for that assessment to reasonably conclude that there was a serious risk of staff catching Covid 19. Obviously this conclusion was reasonable in Customs' situation.
