Covid-19
Covid-19
Roughly 6 weeks ago, the biggest thing on the ACC radar was the removal of cheque payments. Wow, how things have changed.
Covid – 19 has taken over our lives, our thoughts, conversations, fears and freedom. The Prime Minister has declared a National State of Emergency for the 2nd time in my lifetime – once for the Christchurch quakes in 2011 and now – because of some teeny tiny vicious little virus that moves stealthily via droplets from coughing or sneezing.
It always amazes me how people react in stressful situations – some make jokes, some get super serious, some take it in their stride and some will buckle. I see long queues at the supermarket, face masks are the new norm but more than anything, I’m quite concerned about the number of people suddenly needing to buy a gun….
There’s new terminology and sayings “Covid – 19”, “Social Distancing”, “Unite against Covid”, “We’re all in this together”. There’s Facebook memes keeping some occupied, while others have come up with creative ways to keep the children entertained.
Various writers have mentioned an international virus - Dean Koontz “The Eyes of Darkness” , Stephen King “The Stand”, Max Brooks “World War Z”, Justin Cronin “The Passage” and more – at least 10 books in fact have mentioned this topic – some self isolation reading perhaps?
No matter what your view is, or how you handle what’s going on – one thing unites us all. We are human and we are all affected by it. Businesses are facing an uncertain time right now, for the next few weeks and likely for the next few months. Some will recover from this and some won’t. We’ll be here to support you right through in any way we can. We’ve already had various conversations with stressed business owners, we’re keeping clients updated with any new information and processes, and we are continuing to provide the level of service you are entitled to.
Whatever your situation, however you handle it, good luck and see you on the other side.
